Care & maintenance
A quick clean goes a long way. Find your gear below for everyday cleaning and storage tips.
Before you start
Switch off and unplug your gear. Remove user-replaceable batteries where possible. Start with a soft microfiber cloth and a dry brush. Apply any permitted cleaner to the cloth, never directly to electronics, and let everything dry before reconnecting.
Materials and coatings vary. Follow your model’s manual whenever it differs from these general tips.
Keyboards
- Brush loose dust from between the keys with a soft, dry brush.
- Wipe keys and the case with a barely damp microfiber cloth. Keep moisture away from switches and ports.
- Remove keycaps only if your model supports it; use the recommended puller.
Avoid: Soaking the keyboard or forcing keycaps off laptop-style and membrane keys.
Mice
- Wipe the shell with a lightly damp microfiber cloth.
- Use a soft, dry brush around the scroll wheel and buttons. Gently clear dust around the sensor.
- Keep the underside and mouse feet free of debris for smoother movement.
Avoid: Scraping the sensor, peeling off mouse feet or letting liquid enter the shell.
Headphones & headsets
- Wipe the headband and ear cups with a soft cloth; use minimal moisture for marks.
- Keep speaker grilles and microphone openings dry. Remove ear pads only as your manual allows.
- Let pads air-dry after use before putting the headset away.
Avoid: Soaking ear pads or using strong cleaners on leatherette and coatings.
Monitors
- Start with a clean, dry microfiber cloth and a gentle touch.
- For marks, lightly dampen the cloth with water, following your screen’s manual. Wipe without pressing on the panel.
- Dust the stand and exterior vents with a dry cloth.
Avoid: Glass cleaners, alcohol, abrasive cloths, compressed air or spraying liquid onto the screen.
Mousepads & desk mats
- Spot-clean with a lightly damp microfiber cloth.
- Only hand-wash a fabric mat if its care label allows it; never submerge an RGB or powered mat.
- Let the mat air-dry flat and completely before using it again.
Avoid: Machine washing, harsh scrubbing, direct sun or heat drying.
Switches & keycaps
- Use a dry, soft brush for dust. Keep liquids out of switch housings and electrical contacts.
- Clean removable keycaps separately, following the material’s care instructions; dry fully before refitting.
- Use the correct puller. Only remove switches from boards designed for user replacement.
Avoid: Soaking switches or applying lubricants without model-specific instructions.
Controllers
- Wipe the shell with a dry microfiber cloth.
- Use a soft, dry brush around buttons, triggers and thumbsticks.
- Keep ports clear of dust and store the controller where the sticks are not pressed down.
Avoid: Pouring cleaner into buttons or opening the controller for routine cleaning.
Cables & other accessories
- For other categories, start with a dry microfiber cloth and follow the product’s own care guide.
- Hold plugs when disconnecting cables and store cords in loose loops.
- Keep connectors dry. If a cable is frayed or a connector is damaged, stop using it and contact support.
Avoid: Washing powered accessories or pulling a cable by its cord.
